Before starting your journey as an EU temporary worker, you’ll need to organize a few important things:

Access to the Netherlands:
If you are a citizen of an EU or EEA country, or Switzerland, you don’t need a visa or work permit to work in the Netherlands. A valid passport or national ID card is enough.

Citizen Service Number (BSN):
To work legally, receive your salary, pay taxes, and take out health insurance, you need a BSN. You can get your BSN by registering at the town hall (gemeente) in the place where you live.

Already worked in the Netherlands before? Then you likely already have a BSN. You can use that same number again.

Health insurance is mandatory by Dutch law; even if you already have coverage in your home country. As soon as you start working and earning income in the Netherlands, you must take out Dutch basic health insurance (basisverzekering).

You are free to choose your own Dutch health insurance provider. If you don’t arrange it yourself, ABflexkracht will register you with HollandZorg, a trusted insurer for international workers.
