Working in the Netherlands as a foreigner: What can I earn as an EU temporary worker?

Want to work in the Netherlands? Fantastic! Here are the key things to arrange:

1. Access to the Netherlands: Do you need a visa or work permit?

  • As an EU citizen, you don’t need a visa or work permit. A valid passport or ID card is enough.
  • Are you from outside the EU? Check the rules on the website of the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).

2. Citizen Service Number (BSN):

  • You need a BSN to work, pay taxes and get health insurance. Register with the municipality where you live to obtain your BSN. We’ll also help you apply for your BSN.
  • Do you already have a BSN from a previous stay? Use that number again.

3. Other important considerations for working in the Netherlands as a foreigner:

  • Health Insurance: Health insurance is mandatory. We’re happy to assist you with advice.
  • Bank Account: A Dutch bank account makes salary payments easier.
