Your workday as a road worker in the Netherlands
As a Road Worker (Paver), you provide the finishing touch to any project. You create a durable result that people will walk and drive on for many years to come.
Your day begins with preparing materials, tools, and equipment. You set out the area and ensure the ground is leveled with millimeter precision. Then, the real work begins: laying paving using bricks, slabs, or natural stone, following patterns from technical drawings.
You work with various machines such as vibrating plates, stone cutters, and sometimes mini-excavators. The job is varied, physically demanding, and highly rewarding. Every day, you build something tangible.
→ Working hours In 99% of cases, you work outdoors during day shifts, for example, from 07:00 to 16:00. Occasionally, projects may require early starts (e.g., 06:00) or weekend work. If this happens, you are always compensated with an attractive shift allowance.
What do we offer you as a road worker in the Netherlands?
Via ABflexkracht, you can earn a solid salary starting from €14.71 gross per hour (starting salary effective from 1 January 2026). On top of that, you receive:
- Shift allowance according to the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) in the Netherlands or company policy;
- Overtime compensation in line with the collective labour agreement or company rules;
- Travel allowance;
- At many projects, you work on a piece rate or performance bonus system. If you work fast and deliver quality, you will see this reflected directly in your salary;
- 8% holiday pay on top of your gross salary;
- A pension scheme via StiPP in accordance with the ABU collective labour agreement.
What do you need to become a Road Worker in the Netherlands?
You do not need a specific diploma to start. Your attitude and motivation are what matter most. We are looking for someone who:
- Enjoys physical, hands-on work outdoors;
- Works neatly and pays attention to detail;
- Can work independently but also functions well in a team;
- Speaks basic English or Dutch;
- Is flexible regarding working hours.
