Your workday as a welder in the Netherlands

As a welder (or trainee) at one of our clients, you work on the production and processing of metal components. ABflexkracht partners with various technical companies, such as machine builders, structural construction firms, and specialists in stainless steel and aluminium.

Depending on your experience, your tasks can range from preparing materials and tack welding to independent MIG/MAG or TIG welding based on technical drawings.

→ In some cases, you will work in shifts (comes with extra pay).
Most companies work in day shifts. Some use a two- or three-shift system (e.g., early/late). If you work shifts, you receive an attractive shift allowance on top of your regular salary.

What can you expect as a welder?

Via ABflexkracht, you receive a stable salary starting at €14.71 gross per hour (starting rate as of 1 January 2026). Note: Are you an experienced welder? Then you will naturally receive a higher salary tailored to your skills. On top of that, you receive:

  • Shift allowance according to the Collective Labour Agreement (CAO) in the Netherlands or company policy (for evening, night and weekend hours in shift work);
  • Overtime pay in line with the CAO or company rules, for any extra hours you work;
  • Travel allowance;
  • 8% holiday pay on top of your gross salary;
  • Pension scheme through StiPP (according to the ABU-CAO);
  • Free training and certificates to develop your skills, such as VCA (safety), forklift, or specialised welding and CNC-courses;
  • Personal guidance from a dedicated contact person at ABflexkracht, someone who knows you personally and is always ready to help with any questions.

Many companies also provide high-quality workwear (PPE) and opportunities for a permanent contract if you perform well.

Your career path: growing as a welder

The metal industry offers plenty of room for growth. You can start as a junior welder and develop into an all-round professional. You might specialize in Robot Welding or become a certified expert in MIG/MAG and TIG. Ambitions to become a foreman or welding coordinator? We support your growth with the right training.

Why this job is an excellent fit for you:

While a diploma is a plus, your motivation is key. We are looking for someone who:

  • Has technical feeling: You enjoy working with machines, tools, and metal;
  • Is hands-on: You like seeing the immediate results of your hard work;
  • Works precisely: You have an eye for detail and quality;
  • Prioritizes safety: You follow guidelines to protect yourself and colleagues;
  • Is physically fit: You are comfortable standing and lifting materials during the day;
  • Is flexible: You are open to working shifts if needed.

It gives you an advantage if you have:

  • A technical education (Metalwork/Mechanical Engineering);
  • Welding certificates, for example MIG/MAG or TIG level 1 or 2;
  • Experience as a metalworker, fabricator, or welder;
  • A valid VCA certificate;
  • A driving licence.

Enthusiastic but no experience? No problem! At ABflexkracht, you can learn on the job. With our guidance, you will quickly develop into a skilled metalworker.
